How to: Combatlog + Chatlog
How can you help us keeping DBM up to date and as accurate as possible?
To help us all you have to do is sending us your combatlog and chatlog files. These two files tells us all that is needed. If you send the files, please note in the mail your faction and the dungeon difficulty
How do I enable the combatlog and chatlog?
You enable the logging of your combatlog and chatlog by typing this line in your chat:
Where can I find the saved logs?
You can find the saved logs in your WoW directory, in the folder "Logs". The standard location is:
C:\World of Warcraft\Logs\
The two saved files are called:
WoWCombatLog.txt
WoWChatLog.txt
I have found the files, what to do now?
1) As these files are generally quite big, you cannot send them normally by mail. Therefore you have to compress them. A commonly used program to compress files is WinRAR, you can download WinRAR at <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm">http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm</a><!-- m -->
2) Once you have compressed the files, you can mail it to us:
Alternatively you can upload your logs @ <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://phoenixstyle.com/logs.php">http://phoenixstyle.com/logs.php</a><!-- m --> . This site is more or less a platform for most boss mods to share their logs with eachother
Please put in the subject which instance you have the logs and the difficulty (ie. Icecrown Citadel 10 normal / Violet Hold heroic).
In the body of your mail, it would be helpfull if you add some additional information like your average latency and faction

Tip from us
- To reduce the size of the logs, disable the combatlog + chatlog on trash using
- If you prefer the privacy of your chat with friends/guild/raid, you can edit the WoWChatLog.txt and remove all lines that are not related to bosses. The only value lines for us are the emotes/yells/whispers from the boss or related mobs.
We do not read your chatlog to figure out tactics etc, we only read and search boss related lines to improve DBM (spell triggers / cooldown timers which can't be found in the combatlog). All other stuff is garbage for us thus we ignore it!
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Some elements of boss encounters are not correctly logged in the default combatlog and chatlog. Therefor logs 'generated' by the addon Transcriptor are very usefull. This addon can be found at: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.wowace.com/addons/transcriptor/files/">http://www.wowace.com/addons/transcriptor/files/</a><!-- m -->
The downside of this addon is that it can cause a high memory usage and if you don't delete the saved file often enough, your game will be running out of memory and crash. Our advise would be to delete the generated file after/before every raid (don't forget to mail it to us first :p)
The generated log file can be found in the WTF directory. As default it would be:
C:\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\<ACCOUNTNAME>\SavedVariables\Transcriptor.lua
This file can be compressed and sent to us the same way as the default combatlog + chatlog

Re: How to: Combatlog + Chatlog
Hi
I want to improve combatlogs sharing between addon`s authors.
It`s complicate for the moment to send logs via differents e-mails, not comfortable. I never send them because it takes time.
So, I decide to create this service on my site.
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://phoenixstyle.com/logs.php">http://phoenixstyle.com/logs.php</a><!-- m -->
Here users can upload their logs, logs will be compressed on servers if *.txt
Addon`s authors can access to the page with logs and download them + write note or change "zone" info etc (if someone don't want to share his logs with everyone - there is an option).
What do you think about this? Looks nice, I think
))
If you think to use it, let me know, or if you have some suggestions...
